Found myself on the wrong side of the rip in CVNA, tried to call a top in otm call IV at 400+%, only to see IV rip to over 600%. The one silver lining, was that I sold a bunch of far OTM weekly puts for more than they were going for when CVNA opened, so that mitigated some of my losses but certainly didn't cover them. Stung by the siren song of short vol! Thought I had a nice buffer with the off the charts IV, but the IV continued even higher off the charts. I had been on a serious tear to start the year too, slight dent in ytd pnl.
