Feb 22 Monday Morning Notes

The SPY closed on monthly opex near the highs at 211.239 after opening around 209.50 and hitting a low of 208.73 shortly thereafter. It's currently trading around 210.84.

Marketwatch: Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. VRX, +9.55%  said it has agreed to acquire Salix Pharmaceuticals Ltd. SLXP, +4.72%  in a deal worth $10.1 billion. 
VRX is out with earnings this AM and announced that it will be acquiring SLXP for about $10b. This deal is roughly 14% of VRX market cap. VRX is trading up 10% on the news at 190 after closing at 173 on Friday.

Pre-mkt range: Traded around 183 hit a high of 190.88 and is currently trading around 190.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. BMY, +1.63% said it plans on purchasing Flexus Biosciences in a deal valued at $1.25 billion.
Keurig Green Mountain Inc. GMCR, +2.15%  announced it plans on repurchasing 5.2 million of its shares owned by Luigi Lavazza for $619.7 million.
Dish Network Corp. DISH, +1.10%  said Chairman Charles Ergen will replace Joe Clayton, who is retiring as chief executive officer March 31. The news came as the satellite TV company reported rising fourth-quarter profit but falling subscribers.
